Primarch Project Honor Guard 1 by TheShepster Primarch Project Honor Guard 1 by TheShepster
Okay, so this is the first Honour Guard Member belonging to my Imperial Fists Primarch Project (WIP: [link] Rogal Dorn: [link] and [link]). I'm quite satisfied with the mini, especially how the eagle on the shield turned out in the end. The scroll reads "Protector" or at least should do so... :)
Sadly, due to the flash of my camera, some of the golden and coppery parts look rather yellow-brown-ish... :(

As always, comments and critique welcome.

What exactly do you mean by off? Imperial Fists are yellow... If you mean that it looks a bit too dull, that could be because of the yellow-ochre shading...

Anyway, thanks... ^^

Oh I know they're supposed to be yellow It just looks a like the coats aren't even. to thick in some spots to thin in others.

Ahh, that's indeed because of the yellow-ochre shading. The colour I used was about 15 years old and not good anymore... :(

Thanks... ^^

I had to start painting my Primarch's honour guard at some point. I thought starting with the close combat guys would be a good idea... :D

Well, since I never read a 40k novel (I just started with "Sons of Dorn") and don't read much in the Lexicanum... ;) :D

Thanks for liking the mini, though... :)

Where are the extra parts from? Are those Chapterhouse bits?

The helmet, shield and hammer are from MaxMini, the torso front would originally be a Space Wolves bit and both arms are originally old type Mercenaries of the Empire bits from Warhammer Fantasy/Mortheim. The base is scenic temple ruin base... :D

As cool as he is, it really just looks like you dumped a thick layer of yellow over the mini and then did the metal, and that was it. I see no black lining anywhere, really. It's kinda sad, you should have done a dark primer, like a bad moon yellow diluted with tiny bit of black. Then done a few layers at a time of your yellows over it, leaving the dark parts in the nooks and corners. The metal is cool, for sure. Esp the eagle, looks like it's been corroded in certain parts.

Actually those are three quite thin layers of golden yellow on top of a medium grey primer. The right arm looks so blotchy because I used a quite old Warhammer Fantasy arm bit and needed a feeled ton of glue to keep the damn hammer stuck to it... ;)
I'm myself most fond of the eagle. It was painted with a very darkened boltgun metal and drybrushed with copper. Along the topline of the wings and head, I highlighted with a mix of boltgun metal and white...

Also, I see now that in some areas the shading did not really work... :( I'll have to get back to the mini for that. :D
